Increase Your ROI by Tapping Into Tablet Shoppers

With technology changing and updating faster than the blink of an eye, it's crucial that internet marketing companies know and understand where web traffic is coming from. According to Forrester Research, 21% of mobile sales today come from tablets ("The State of Retailing Online 2011). As people are spending more time online due to smartphones and tablets, it's time to consider optimizing your business's website to capture these consumers, keeping in mind online shoppers especially. By 2014, eMarketer projects 35.6% of internet users to use tablets.

Tablets are preferred over smartphones for web shopping, according to Bizrate Insights Tablet Commerce Flash Survey 2011. Tablets offer larger screens than smartphones and are therefore preferred by web shoppers. The larger screens make it easier to use and view items in a web browser.

Create An Ipad App

We're in an app world now. Tablets are used for much more than just web browsing devices. Also, apps aren't just web-browsing tools--they're an in store experience. Tablets allow you to bring the store and the experience to your home, inside your living room as you relax on the couch after work on a Tuesday evening. According to Geek.com, a record 1.2 billion apps were downloaded during the last week of 2011, and 509 million in the US alone. Of those surveyed, the number one online shopping app downloaded was a retailer specific app, according to Bizrate Insights Tablet Commerce Flash Survey 2011. What this means for B2B internet marketing companies is it's important that retailer clients have their websites configured so they display properly on tablets for ease of viewing.

Here are a few ways to optimize retailer sites for tablet shoppers:

Identify activity and volume of websites

You want to use and understand in-house metrics to identify the main platforms through which consumers visit your website, such as tablet, PC and mobile. Also, it is important to do an initial 'site check' of your website to see how it appears on different devices. Forget auditing your site on just tablet and mobile platforms. Further, internet marketing companies can no longer combine tablet users under mobile--they are 2 completely different platforms. There are various differences between different tablets as well. For example, your site may display differently on an iPad as opposed to a Kindle Fire simply because the iPad is about 9.5 x 7 inches and the Kindle Fire is about 4 x 6 inches.

Optimize based on consumers needs and wants

It's important to see why your consumers are visiting your site and what they are using it for in order to proceed with the best optimization strategy. Are they buying items and using a checkout system, are they browsing items, or just accessing account information? You want to optimize your site based on your consumers' needs to make your site easier to navigate and increase convenience. If your consumers are searching, insert and optimize a quick navigation bar throughout the site and highlight a search bar for ease. Lastly, create ease throughout the checkout process by offering alternative payments. The easier the checkout process, the higher the conversion. You can further optimize your retail site by removing any elements that just simply don't convert as well as others. This will create a cleaner pathway to checkout and make it easier and convenient. This will also maintain focus on what consumers are trying to do and minimize distractions.

The 'fat finger' effect

Tablets and smartphones are predominantly touch screen these days, so adjustments need to be made to the tap areas so consumers can easily navigate the site. Here we introduce the 'fat finger' effect--you're trying to tap on the 'Checkout' button but instead you end up tapping the button that says 'edit cart'. If only the buttons were larger to accommodate the size of your finger. Another option is to include predictive search capability throughout on-site search navigation which minimizes key strokes, like a short-cut.

Ultimately, you want to give consumers more ways to get on to your website. Internet marketing companies should focus on ensuring ease of experience for their clients' consumers. It's time to stay ahead of the game and optimize consumers' tablet-browsing experience while shopping online. Don't fall behind, and increase ROI for your retailer clients.

Tablet Marketing

How tablet usage could add leverage to your business's marketing revenue.

The marketing opportunities are increasing as technology develops. The introduction of tablets such as the iPad in 2010 have changed the way consumers receive advertising, as well as what they receive and when. This year, various other brands such as Android and Blackberry brought out their version of tablet technology and so far this new mobile method of accessing information seems to be very well received as a medium.

Create An Ipad App

Great for Online Advertising

Tablet marketing falls into the bracket of Experiential Marketing. This type of marketing through a tablet extends the live experience and brand interactions with their online potential clients. With video being one of the most viewed mediums online, the tablet gains momentum in the advertising industry yet doesn't come close to replacing television. The reason for this is that films and sports are an experience that consumers like to view on a large screen. Tablets on the other hand are very much an ideal way for the user to become immersed in short clips, trailers and adverts.

Experiential Online Marketing

Consumers enjoy the hands on experience of using a tablet where the touch and viewing stimulations are more likely to trigger a higher conversion rate from a consumer into a client. Marketers would be thinking in a savvy, experimental way to incorporate tablet usage into how their client is going to be seeing their advertising. The tablet is very much an interactive device that will appeal to marketers and clients alike. Like with all new mediums, those marketers who make use of this form of reaching out to their market will benefit the most.

Tablet Marketing and Longevity

But will this novelty last as a sustainable medium for marketers to make use of? According to Alphawise CIO Survey, two thirds of companies will have adopted tablets onto their networks by the end of the year. China, the US and the UK are the fastest growing consumers of tablets and 90% of tablet owners have downloaded an Application to use on their device. Why the tablet will have sustainability is because it fills a gap in the market somewhere between smartphone, television and laptop; without replacing any of the latter and creating a brand new way of interaction with various forms of media.

Tablets Rejuvenate Outdated Industry

Tablets may even breathe life into the falling print media subscription rate. Spending time and money on a subscription for a print publication is something that is seen to be a popular activity on tablets due to the larger screen size. This means a longer amount of time will be spent on their tablets which for marketers mean more time to engage with potential clients.

More business revenue can be generated through apps and downloads. The most popular apps for download are games, music and books. A surge in authors promoting their books and launches online has proved to be very worth their while this year. Combining email marketing with tablet advertising seems like a very accessible and logical link to make, simply because it is so accessible. Advertising a product through email and social media, to watching an advert or a 360' promotional video of the product to the conversion to online shopping is all combined in a short, easy mobile step with a tablet.

Sony Tablet S - New 9

It's been five months since Sony officially unveiled its first Android tablets called "S1" and "S2" in Tokyo. Finally, the time has come to release one of the two. The Sony Tablet S which is previously named "S1" is making its first debut in US market this September.

The Sony Tablet S is a 9" Android tablet with a unique design called "folding design". It's quite interesting to talk about unique design of a tablet PC, remembering what happened to the Samsung Galaxy Tab when the German court upheld the Galaxy Tab 10.1 ban for Apple's patent issue. The folding design is undoubtedly original by Sony. So that at least they don't need to worry about such an issue.

Create An Ipad App

The design which is inspired by a folded piece of paper is not only unique, but also really makes a sense from the comfort standpoint. The folding design creates two sides: the thick and the thin. When we hold the thick side by one hand, the tablet's weight is concentrated at this side. It feels pretty comfortable. And if we put the device on a table in landscape orientation, the folding design also provides more comfortable typing position than what "the flat design" does.

A unique and comfortable design only is certainly not enough for winning the competition in 9" tablet class. At least there are the iPad 2 and the HP Touchpad in this class. Is the Sony Tablet S ready to compete with such both tablets?

Let's take a look at the Tablet S' specifications and features!

The Sony Tablet S comes with 9.4" (1280x800 p, 161 ppi) screen, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera (2560x1920 p), a VGA front-facing camera, dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor running NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 chipset, 1 GB RAM, and 16 GB/32 GB internal memory. With these specifications, the Tablet S has better display's pixel density and higher camera in comparison to those of the iPad 2 and the HP Touchpad.

The Tablet S runs the latest version of Android Honeycomb with some modifications, pre-loaded Sony apps, and games. You will find Sony's Reader app for ebooks, the Reader Store, a File Transfer app along with Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited, Quick View in the browser for faster loading, and the popular PSOne game: Crash Bandicoot. If you want more games, you can load the other PSOne and PSP titles.

The other interesting features are DLNA support and Remote Control app. You can click the "Throw" button in audio and video apps, and it will immediately scan for DLNA-compliant devices, allowing you to stream video or music from the tablet to those devices wirelessly. The Remote Control app enables you to use the tablet as a universal remote. It works with any A/V hardware, not only for Sony's brand. That's pretty cool.

Seemingly it's no exaggeration to say "all of Sony's innovations folded into one". And that is precisely what Sony says about the Tablet S.

How to Sync Your Computer, Smartphone, and Tablet PC

Several years ago the business community used laptops while working outdoors, or used desktop computers while in the office, and used similar PCs while at home. Perhaps the rich had BlackBerry too. Today almost everyone carries a smartphone, regardless if it runs iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7, or even the BlackBerry's OS. On different occasions you could carry a tablet PC that runs a different operating system than your smartphone. And you could also have an ultralight MacBook Air to your Windows-based PC at home or in the office as well.

To manage these critical devices, plus their assorted OS, Applications, including their connectivity alternatives, can be challenging. But of course with the correct blend of software and services, handling numerous platforms and mixing your data can be painless.

Create An Ipad App

What to Sync?

Before you download a cluster of cloud-related apps, ensure you lay out your needs. For instance, if you often operate at home, and you don't attend meetings frequently, it won't be necessary to sync your calendar through multiple devices. But if you're a promising writer or a creative type, you'd consider ways to log your regular stream of ideas electronically. But if you're carrying on a joint project, it would be necessary to share a selection of documents with your coworkers.

The other vital thing is to know which of your platforms necessitate sharing of data, and what types of data are to be shared. Such as, a Wi-Fi-only iPad 2 that you use solely as an email and a browsing tool; you don't access work data with it, though you use it occasionally as a note-taking device.

However if your activities are within a corporate environment, your company's IT policies have to be taken into consideration. IT supervisors would normally give directions on what sort of information the firm wants left in the cloud as opposed to its own servers. Ensure that you consult your IT department if you are about to share possibly sensitive or proprietary data across platforms.

The outcome is that your integration wants will differ depending on what your activities are, how often you travel , and which devices you carry with you.

Syncing Browser Data

Sometimes you don't create a load of documents, but you browse a lot. Luckily, you can now sync bookmarks, passwords, including other data through platforms with all major browsers. One of the most transparent browsers is the Google Chrome, and with a Gmail account- you just need to enable sync at Chrome options panel under the 'Personal Stuff' tab.

Firefox is bit difficult to sync: You are required to enter a special passcode on all platforms you'd want to enable Firefox Sync. It's a sufficient amount of an annoyance that's why it's generally unpopular.

You can also sync Internet Explorer bookmarks, however the task requires you to have Windows Live Mesh downloaded and installed. Gainfully, Live Mesh also allows you to share additional settings: such as sync Office templates across PCs, including also sync vital folders with Windows Live SkyDrive, cloud-storage service by Microsoft.

Can a Tablet PC Get You Through College? Can the iPad or Xoom Deliver?

The iPad 2 was designed with fun in mind. In some ways its a cross, between a game console and a movie viewer. If you are looking for a way to entertain yourself on a long journey or during a work break the iPad 2 scores big time. If you are modeling macro economics, it sucks.

There is still a lot of computing power in a tablet PC, though. The new generation Android tablets with Honeycomb OS and Tegra 2 chips are very powerful indeed. The Xoom is certainly quicker than the iPad 2 when it comes to browsing the internet and it is better at multitasking and game play. The ASUS Eepad Transformer has similar power with a better price tag.

Create An Ipad App

Android Apps for College

There are plenty of Android apps for college students already. Most of the older ones were designed for smart phones using Android 2, rather than the newer, purely for tablets, Android 3.0 and up.

Two of the best Honeycomb productivity apps are Quick Office and Docs to Go. You can create or edit all of the best Microsoft Office files like Word or Excell as well as reading PDFs.

GDocs, gives you useable spread sheets and word processors that integrate with Google's cloud based docs. These are not as powerful as Word or Excell of course and if you are majoring in economics, you might need the real deal, industry standard spreadsheets! For most courses, they will probably get you through.

There are plenty of organizers so you get to class on time, complete essays when required etc.

Voice recording apps are great for getting lectures down. There are printing apps to get hard copies with mobile or desktop printers.

iPad 2 for College

Apple offer the iWork office suite, and of course iBooks if you have the WiFi or 3G model. There are also organizers and the ability to airprint documents with the latest 4.2 iOS. The 'Pages' App and the 'Numbers' App are powerful word processing tools and spreadsheet tools, respectively.

The Drawbacks of Tablet PC's at College

The biggest disadvantage of a tablet PC versus a laptop is the lack of a physical keyboard. Virtual keyboards of the kind tablets offer won't let you type as fast as most people want. If you are rushing through a piece of work, picking away at virtual keyboard can drive you crazy. Also the keyboard will take up a third of the screen.

One way out of this is to get a portable Bluetooth keyboard that will synch with the Tablet. There are many available for the iPad 2- including keyboards that incorporated into an iPad case. Motorola are offering very good, if overpriced, keyboards for their Xoom too.

The Asus Transformer has a fully integrated keyboard.

A second issue is that not all college WiFi systems are compatible with the iPad whilst laptops are more likely to mesh. This is something you will need to check for each college.

My own feeling?

The original iPad with its limited connectivity (no USB, no Bluetooth document transfers) is not ideal for college. The iPad 2 is lot more business and study orientated. The new Android Tablets offer a real alternative to a laptop with plenty of connectivity and power.

The iSlate Apple Tablet - What is It?

The iSlate apple tablet is a new rumored electronic mobile computer produced by Apple Inc. For years there has been a rumor floating around that Apple has had a tablet device in the works. Recent events and technology detective work indicates that Apple's new product is finally here!

What's a "tablet" anyway?

Iphone Application

A computer tablet is a portable mobile computer that is similar to a laptop computer, but instead of a folding screen designed to rest on a persons lap a tablet is designed to be hand held with a touch screen. Tablet technology is nothing new to the tech world, but in the past tablets have generally been bulky and lacking a user friendly interface. Tablets are especially useful to industries and business that need to access information on the go, such as architects, doctors, sales people, traveling business people, news reporters, maintenance people, factory managers, and many more.

The iSlate, an Apple invention?

Even though rumors about the Apple tablet have been around for a long time Evidence indicates that it will be announced in January 2010 and that it will go on sale March 2010. Various leaked information, industrial activities, and corporate actions show that the iSlate is going to be:

• 7", 10", or 11"

• Enclosed in an aluminum body

• Making use of multi-touch technology from Finger-works

• Similar to e-readers like the Kindle

• Able to support iPhone Applications

• Priced between 0-00

• 3G compatible

• Packaged with a touch version of iWork

• Powered by an ARM CPU

• Using a front facing webcam in future releases

• Groundbreaking

While this is based on unofficial sources at this time, this article will be updated with the official iSlate specs as time goes on.

iSlate market positioning?

The iSlate tablet will be competing directly against the HP "Slate" tablet which was announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The iSlate tablet trademark.

Everyone has come to the conclusion that the Apple tablet will indeed be called the iSlate due to Apple's purchase of the domain name islate.com and trademark ownership of the iSlate name by a company called Slate Computing which lists one of Apple's trademark specialists on it's board of directors.

What can the iSlate do?

The iSlate will revolutionize mobile gaming. With it being compatible with the popular Applications that run on the iPhone the iSlate will be a more functional version of the iPhone due to it's increased size and computing power. Eventually, the iSlate will be the new form of face to face communication when it is released with a webcam. It's also likely that the iSlate will be able to sync with computers and even act as an interface for computers replacing the keyboard and mouse. You should ask yourself what the iSlate can't do...

Of course more details and corrections will be added as time goes on.
