Apple - Putting Your Favorite Companies Out of Business One By One
As a company, Apple Inc. now sets the standard is such areas as innovation, technology, good management, good marketing, good HR, good internal promotion policies, corporate creativity and much more. Just when you think the tech giant simply cannot bring something better to market, Apple launches a product that is bigger, better and more useful to the end-user. If your company ever plans to make a run at the technology giant, for your assistance, I've compiled a list of reasons as to why they are #1 and why, although I respect it, are a tad bit over ambitious.

1. The Computer is Cool Again - years ago, computers used to be nerdy and, in the media (especially television and media), were often used by the "geek". Do you recall the Revenge of the Nerds? Their crew of nerds were readily reliant on computers.
The people at Apple saw this persona and set out to change the way people see Macs. They did not have to do extensive television commercials nor did they heavily engage in radio marketing, for the most part, they made a good product and let "word of mouth" do the rest. Additionally, placing a new, sleeker Apple logo on each product proved to be genius and as the logo became synonymous with high quality and luxury. More or less, Apple turned their logo into the Mercedes Benz of computers.
In addition to being cool, Macs are safe. While PCs are open to all different kinds of viruses, an Apple buyer can rest assure that this is something which they will not have to deal with. Again, this is one more amazing selling point on Apple's behalf. Even though I am sure Windows 7 does the job, people no longer trust it and, therefore companies such as HP are struggling to survive.
2. A 3 Year Old Could Use Apple Products - I've seen this one first hand. My nephew who is not even three yet, knows how to play with the iPhone, iPod Touch and now the iPad. Don't get me wrong, he is not doing algebra, but he knows the OS. Personally, I own the iPhone and iPad (my business has some Macs as well) and Apple makes it exceedingly easy to switch from product to product. The smartest thing the tech giant ever did was make everything exceedingly easy to use. If you know how to use an iPhone, you pretty much will understand the rest of their product suite. Also, if you own a business, Apple now offers training sessions on the products you purchase from them.
Again, on the part of Apple, this is brilliant. People stick with what they know; they don't change unless they have to.
3. Invention of the iPhone and iPad - I am proud to say that I am the owner of both products and could not be happier. When Apple set out to make the iPhone (supposedly, they actually made the iPad first, but that's just speculation), it's almost as if they did not miss one single detail. The longer you use the iPhone, the more intricacies you see in the product. Regarding the iPad, I could praise this product for weeks. Getting back to #2, Apple made this hand-held computer just as they made the iPhone. Therefore, becoming acclimated to the iPad takes place almost instantaneously.
4. Making the App Store a Must - This was another tear-jerker of a performance on Apple's behalf. Apple allowed the public to use their creativity, ambition and knowledge of technology to create these amazing Applications (first for the iTouch, then the iPhone and now the iPad) which would push the technological limits of the smart phone. Now, the same people are working with the iPad and it is yet to be seen what can be done with the tablet like computer. If the iPhone is indicative of what the iPad can do, things are going to get quite interesting.
Regarding the App Store, Apple is too far ahead for anyone to compete with them. They already have a stranglehold on music and now they are going after books (goodnight Amazon and Barnes and Noble) and educational software (goodnight some education software companies).
