Windows Phone 7 Apps - A Revolution in Mobile Software?

It's not that long since Microsoft revamped Windows with their Windows 7 and made casual users and reviewers rejoice over the stunning looks and functionality. Of course, not many people understood all the changes done - and they were many - but the operating system did mark a highpoint for Microsoft. With the launch of Windows Phone 7 at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress, the world's largest software developer has finally gotten back in the game of mobile operating systems. The Windows Phone 7 series is a totally different mobile OS, written from scratch that should herald a revolutionary change in mobile operating systems.

What a lot of people want to know is how the Windows Phone 7 Apps system will work out? To be honest, these apps have the potential to be real iPhone killers. They just look so darn good. Microsoft has definitely delivered.

Create An Iphone App

There are many reasons to be excited for the future of Windows Phone 7 apps. One nifty feature is that the apps are shown as 'live' tiles, meaning that they will continue to show content while in their minimized form and they look great. The main interface that makes up the apps is centered around hubs, for example 'office', 'pictures','games' and so on. You could call this the main hubs if you will. There's also the 'People' hub which is great for checking up on what your friends are doing. You can actually see all of your social networking news on just one screen, probably the most innovative social media creation for a mobile phone. The apps are unrestricted by screen size, which means you can zoom in and out and pan across them, allowing for a much more enjoyable and flexible use.

Of course, there are also the games and graphics and those may be one of the big selling points of Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 7 uses Silverlight, the Microsoft variant of Adobe Flash and that gives Microsoft a leg up on competitors which do not support Flash, namely the iPhone. Graphically, this looks like a no contest. Silverlight has gotten a reputation for creating great looking graphics and it will be very exciting to see what third party developers can come up with. X-Box Live is also integrated into the OS, which promises some interesting possibilities. The future of mobile gaming belongs to the smartphones and Microsoft has recognized this. It will certainly be interesting to follow.

The Mobile Revolution

Locations are no longer a barrier with today's mobile technology. Wireless phones and other wireless technologies have made it possible to stay connected no matter where you are or what you're doing.

It's hard to remember a time before cell phones. A time when people could only contact one another from their homes or at the office near a phone. Or harder still, try remembering a time before fax machines and email; when getting a document to someone meant physical delivery.

Some people may bemoan the loss of a simpler, less accessible time. But what most GenXers and all GenYers have known is the digital era: when everything and everyone is just a click away at all times.

Mobile telephones have brought this digital connectivity to a new level. In addition to being accessible by phone, people can now connect through email or text message while on the go.

These technologies have been enhanced by the advent of the much-touted iPhone and other mobile devices that offer connectivity from our hand. Previous wireless telephones offered cursory versions of the Internet. People could check their email and view small pieces of online information but were unable to access all of the audio, video, text and interactive features the modern Internet has to offer.

Mobile technology has certainly revolutionized people's lives. You can check your Facebook profile, converse with a friend using Instant Messaging and bookmark an article to Digg all while riding the bus to work. Wireless phones have become a social necessity.

Conducting work via mobile phones is also becoming standard practice. Businessmen and businesswomen can attend meetings around the world, submit presentations, keep up with their email correspondence, and more all from their wireless devices.

Business software has adapted to fit mobile technology as mobile phones become an indispensable aspect of company-customer interaction. Relationship automation module provider Axonom recently introduced its Powertrak Mobile software for wireless devices. This technology offers the complete Microsoft customer relationship management Applications standard in its original Powertrak software to leading mobile devices without the need for IT support and tedious installation.

More software will likely become 'mobile-friendly' as the mobile revolution continues to grow. Visit Axonom online to find out more about their mobile-friendly technology.

Taking Advantage of the New Ebook Revolution

When Amazon announced that their Kindle digital download sales had eclipsed both their hardback and paperback sales combined, the moment of the new ebook revolution had arrived.

The launch of the Amazon Kindle in 2007 allowed people to simply click and buy to download ebooks from the Kindle marketplace onto their device. In 2009 the Apple iPad exploded onto the scene bringing with it the iBook app that also enabled ebook sales via other Apple family of products such as the iPhone and iPod.

Create An Ipad App

Other ebook readers such as the Nook range of readers opened up the Barnes and Noble marketplace with Sony and others joining the fray.

This is truly exciting time for writers and information publishers throwing open a mainstream marketplace that is quickly expanding.

Firstly why should you publish an ebook?

You establish yourself as an expert You can use your books and guides as lead generators to build your list and sell backend services and products It doesn't have to be a mammoth book. You can publish guides, short reports, whitepapers and even publish your blog posts as a book.

The global ebook market grew by 200% in 2010, so the question is how can you take advantage of this huge market?

There are plenty of Publish on Demand platforms out there that can help you publish and distribute your books. You can 'Google' publish on demand and see what is available and best suits your needs.

Lulu is probably the most well know of POD (publish on demand) services with a range of add-on support services such as marketing, proofreading, design and editing.

Fastpencil also offers publish on demand but with a unique book writing wizard that templates the process to produce professional standard book creation. These two will also be able to publish your content as physical paperback or hardback as well as an ebook.

Smashwords give authors a route to a wide range of platforms including the iPad, Nook, Kobo and soon the Kindle.

A more direct approach can be taken using the Kindle Direct Publishing Platform for Amazon's digital marketplace or Nook's PubIt! You will need to convert your word document into a.mobi file for the Kindle and the other common format is called ePUB.

These are just a small handful of examples but the main point to take from this is that there is no better time to start planning, writing and publishing your content!

For a free guide on setting up your content directly for the Amazon Kindle and preparing books for the Smashwords platform click on the link below.
