Choosing a career is not easy, and you have to pick something that will be on-going into the future, yet you must also realize that whatever you choose will determine your success in life. Changing your career path in college or thereafter, can become quite costly indeed. Not long ago an acquaintance emailed me and stated; "I Love Computer Science, Medicine, and Psychology," and he was still trying to decide on a relevant career path for himself.
Those are some interesting topics, aren't and luckily he was an intellectual. You see, Computer Science and psychology are interesting and some of the things they are doing now with Artificial Intelligence are incredible, so too will be all the future Applications of such.
Application Development
Psychiatric medicine is interesting, and the blood brain barrier is something of interest. We really do need to come up with drugs that can assist in healing the brain's connections, insulating or building up those connections and giving the brain the nutrients it needs to work at and stay at higher levels of cognition.
And in developing these things it sure would be excellent to figure out Alzheimer's and other challenges we face, far too many and they are so unfortunate. Indeed, someday, I bet in the next 20-30 years we will be able to download brain and make a back up copy, many science fiction authors have written about this and there are some folks working on it too.
Neuroscience has come a long way, and although it has a long way to go still, it is amazing just how far it has progressed in only the last five years. Anyone who has such a combinations of interests, and skills will be able to do great things with their lives, and for humanity, so please consider all this.
