This clip was created by new graduates at the IBM Hursley Laboratory to demonstrate work they have completed through a scheme called Hursley, Blue, Graduate, Opportunities (HBGO). HBGO is a scheme that is designed to be separate from core IBM product work, but that give graduates a chance to build on their teamworking, technical, and delivery skills. This project consisted of a team of 6 graduates to show that it's possible, with very little mainframe or CICS knowledge, to rapidily create and extend CICS applications that can improve business practices and increase productivity. The CICS product showcase project enabled the graduates to complete a series of small assignments to showcase technologies such as web services, business events, and mobile applications. The assignments were designed to build up core skills with CICS and a number of other technologies including Rational Developer for System z (RDz), AJAX, DOJO, WebSphere sMash, Groovy, Rationaal Team Concert (RTC), and many more, and revolve around updating a fictional insurance company's existing COBOL terminal interface application uasing CICS features to enhance the consumability of the existing application
